Uesugi is a master of mood and light.

The strange thing about Tadahiro Uesugi is the amount of people who have never heard of him… His work and there is lots and lots of it! But still, whenever I mention the name to some one, they often get a puzzled look on their face. Usually the frown disappears the minute they see the work itself…. Uesugi is a master of mood and light.

Nevertheless, almost everything is done digitally. Presented here is only a little selection of his work: The highly stylized retro stuff but also earlier work, which is a bit rougher and cartoony, but also very nice, and some pieces he did most recently as a concept artist for the Coraline movie. It is all in Japanese, but that should be no problem. They did an exhibition together and talk a little about each others work.

Uesugi combines both this 'scratch-like' pen manship, but harks by to a 50s style.
