Gisela Stuart is no longer a Member of Parliament. This page has not been updated since Gisela was elected as the first ever Labour MP for the Birmingham, Edgbaston constituency on 1 May and has held the seat ever since. Edgbaston holds the unique record of having returned a woman to represent its interests in Parliament since Prior to her election to the Commons, Gisela worked in the publishing industry, including a stint as Deputy Director of the London Book Fair, as a lecturer at Worcester College of Technology and as a researcher into pensions law at the University of Birmingham.

Pensions remain one of her special interests as an MP and Gisela has been at the fore of the campaign to reform rules that have led to many women receiving inadequate state pensions. She is also the editor of the House Magazine, a weekly political journal which is consistently rated as the most read magazine by MPs and Peers. Constituency: Birmingham, Edgbaston.
